Step 3: Contact potential link partners

How do I find web sites to trade links with?

Step 1: Select the Find/Add New Links tab

Step 2: Choose method of finding sites (2 options)

Option 1: Keyword search

Link administrator gives you two options for finding web sites to trade links with. "Find sites by keyword search" is similar to a search engine search. Type in a keyword and Link Administrator will find sites that match the keyword.

Option 2: Sites that link to a URL

"Find sites that link to my competition," enables users to type in a competitors url and find all the sites that link to this website. By using this option, you are letting your competition do the work for you. They have already gone to the trouble to identify web sites that reach the customers that will be interested in your website or product. If you can contact these web sites and get them to link to you, not only will you increase your web site's search engine ranking, but you will also be reaching the correct target market.

As an example we will market and create links pages for another Compupower product, the popular eBay auction sniper software and service "Powersnipe." For this example we will also choose another auction related website called "Andale" which reaches the same target market. We are interested in targeting the same customers as Andale, so we have type their URL into the "Competitor URL" text box and press the "Find sites that link to my competition" button. The result page displays a number of sites and information about the sites.

Contacting potential link trading partners

Link Administrator attempts to find the site name, url, and description. This information will be used later when we contact the websites. To have Link Administrator find the web site's email address, press "Get email."

Check the information Link Administrator found and make sure it is accurate for each site you want to contact. This information will be used later to generate the "Links Page" for your web site. Finally, if appropriate, select the category you want to have this website listed under on your "Links Page" and press "Add Link and Send Reciprocation Email."

"Add Link and Send Reciprocation Email" generates an email that requests a reciprocal link trade from the website. To generate this email, the information found on the site is combined with an email template. In this case the email template used is the "Request link email" template. Templates can be customized to suit your individual needs.

Review this email and make appropriate changes. To send the email and request a reciprocal link trade, press "Send message." This email will be sent to the contact at the corresponding web site and an entry for the web site will appear in the "Manage Active Links" section of your account.

To access this new entry, click on the "Manage Active Links" tab.

The new entry appears along with a number of administrative options.
